Residents at six care homes run by the charity Friends of the Elderly will have something special to hang on their trees this Christmas after Bernina users from around the UK responded to the company’s appeal for new Christmas decorations.

More than a hundred specially created decorations were donated to the Bernina Christmas Tree campaign and are now being distributed to care homes in Alton, Woking, Staines-upon-Thames, Colchester, Wallingford and Luton.

“There’s something very special about coming together during the Festive Season to decorate your Christmas Tree and we wanted to reflect that by teaming up with Friends of the Elderly, which is an amazing charity doing important work, to share a bit of friendship and love at this time of year,” explains Stephen Bogod from Bernina.

“We were blown away but not surprised by how our Bernina community responded. I know they will be delighted with sharing the spirit of Christmas with so many residents of the care homes around the country.”

Sally McLachlan, Volunteering and Engagement Manager at Friends of the Elderly, said:

“Thank you so much to everyone who has made and sent in one of the many Christmas decorations we have received. We have been overwhelmed by the response and are absolutely thrilled that six of our care homes will be proudly hanging the decorations on their Christmas trees this year.”
